Life Guard - Opening Shifts - Part-Time Days

Job Description:

Responsible for ensuring the safety of LifeCenter plus Members and Guests, by preventing and responding to emergencies.

Minimum Qualifications:

Current American Red Cross Life Guarding / First Aid Certification. Current American Red Cross CPR / AED for the professional rescuer.

Employment skills test:

1. Prospective Guards must swim 500 meters non stop. The first 200 meters is to be front crawl. The second 200 meters will be breast stroke and the last 100 meters can be any combination of front crawl and breast stroke. 
2. Prospective Guards will demonstrate the ability to tread water for five minutes.
3. Prospective Guards will demonstrate they can retrieve a 10 pound rubber brick from 8 feet of water and swim it a minimum of 10 meters to the side of the pool and then place the brick on the deck. 
4. Prospective Guards will demonstrate proficiency in water rescues, first aid and CPR / AED skills. 
5. This test will be given as a pre-employment test and periodically thereafter.

o Practice “Pro Active” Life Guarding to prevent injuries and accidents
o Be upbeat, polite, and pleasant to all our patrons. ( But do not let them become an intrusion)
o Smile at the patrons they are the ones paying you!
o Enforce all LifeCenter Plus Pool rules , policies and regulations
o Be on time to work. Clock in 10 minutes prior to your start time and report to your station.
o At Shift change you will conduct temperature and chemical tests of all bodies of water.
o Report to work mentally alert and physically ready to safe a life.
o Come to work in approved uniform, looking neat, and clean. (A whistle is part of your uniform)
o Have your rescue tube ready & show proper technique, and posture on stand or on walking patrol.
o Scan your coverage continuously, completely, and be sure to include the pool bottom in your scan.
o Inspect the facility on a daily basis and report any unsafe or unusual conditions to your supervisor
o Complete Records and Reports when required.
o Maintain your personal fitness level with a minimum of two 30 min sessions of vigorous exercise per week to be logged and turned into your supervisor on a monthly basis.
o Complete secondary duties as assigned by your supervisor providing it is safe to do so.
o Keep the pool area neat clean and tidy. (If you have time to lean you have time to clean!)
o Cover your own shifts. Once scheduled it is your responsibility to find a sub and report that change to the Aquatics Director.
o No Cell Phones, Texting, Ear Buds, IPods or other electronic distractions within three meters of your body while you are on duty.
o Protect yourself. Sun Glasses, Sun Screen, Proper Hydration are essential in order to guard well.

POSITION: Water Safety Instructors (WSI)

Job Description:

Responsible for teaching children water safety skills and providing the best learning experience possible for a child using the American Red Cross Swimming Guidelines.

Required Certifications:

o Current American Red Cross Life Guarding / First Aid Certification
o Current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification.


o Teach in a positive manner.
o Instruct swimmers according to the appropriate skill level.
o Take attendance at the beginning of every class.
o Track swimmer's progress through the course using the proper skill assessment sheet.
o Clean up any equipment used in a lesson upon finishing
o Provide feedback to all participants using the LifeCenter Passports and the American Red Cross Achievement Cards.
o Record which student pass or fail a class and submit records to the Aquatics Program Director.
o Communicate issues about a class, the pool, any equipment, or any related matters regarding the group lessons with the Aquatics Program Director.


o Must have the ability to work with all skill levels of the American Red Cross.
o Ability to work with children of all skill levels, behaviors, and attitudes.
o Ability to remain calm and controlled when dealing with a disruptive student.
o Ability to communicate effectively with parents, guests, and children.
o A positive, upbeat, and gentle attitude is required.
o Morning and evening availability is preferred.

Personal Training

In this position you must possess excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills, excellent listening skills, and demonstrate the ability to motivate and nurture others.

Candidates must have a demonstrated strong work ethic that includes punctuality, organization, and attention to detail, have the ability to maintain a friendly, enthusiastic, and positive attitude while building relationships.

In this position you will be responsible for conducting fitness consultations and assessments, selling training packages, developing individualized training programs; assisting, monitoring, and instructing guests while ensuring safe equipment usage.

Additional requirements include:

Experience working with rehabilitative clients and/or student athletes.
Must have a Personal Training Certification approved by supervisor.
Recommended to have a Group Exercise Certification approved by supervisor.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (obtained or pending) in Exercise Science or related field.
CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.

The Front Desk Attendant is the lead customer service contact for all members, guests, or prospects. The Front Desk attendant is also responsible for selling all products and services.


• Greets and checks in all members and guests
• Sells all products and services
• Liaison between members and Membership Office: Including prospects and current members
• Schedules for both Skin Care and Massage Offices
• Answers and directs all incoming phone calls
• Fields all member complaints and concerns
• Performs Opening and Closing Procedures for the club if assigned those shifts
• Responsible for keeping both Program and Check-In desks clean, neat, and orderly
• Attends monthly departmental meetings
• Maintains professionalism when not assisting members; avoids eating, sitting, reading, Internet surfing, or any other activities that are not work-related

POSITION:  Group Exercise Instructor


A group exercise instructor is responsible for leading a group of participants through a safe and effective class by providing superior leadership with current nationally recognized certifications. Group Exercise Instructors may lead classes under the following formats: Land Group Exercise, Aquatic Group Exercise, Yoga, Pilates, TRX, Zumba, Silver Sneakers and Spinning.


  • Arrive at least 10 minutes prior to class start time
  • Must teach all classes agreed upon according to the current Group Exercise schedule Responsible for each class and must request for a substitute at least two weeks in advance
  • Establish a friendly atmosphere with members of the club to promotes member retention Pass on member concerns immediately to supervisor
  • May not request a substitute more than three times a seasonal schedule unless approved by supervisor
  • Must attend all departmental meetings as well as facility-wide meeting
  • Promote any and all facility programming, including but is not limited to: Aquatics, Kid’s Fitness, etc.
  • Provide excellent customer service with members
  • Enters class participation stats on the sheets provided by supervisor
  • Adhere to all building policies and procedures and assist as needing during emergencies Makes an honest effort to assist in subbing classes

KIDS KORNER (Childcare)

Plan and instruct classes in rock climbing. Provide participants with pertinent information, efficient service and instruct all classes with


  • Demonstrate skills and clearly explain them to class members.
  • Report to class prepared with materials and equipment, dressed in approved attire.
  • Implements and adjusts lesson plans for climbing programs to ensure the individual needs and goals of participants are met, with their personal skill levels taken into consideration
  • Provides organized climbing instruction in a safety-focused atmosphere to both youths and adults
  • Monitors climbing area to ensure safety procedures are adhered to by climbers and spectators
  • Explains and demonstrates correct usage of climbing equipment and facility features
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures and the location of emergency equipment.
  • Maintain class attendance records/current health history forms for participants.
  • Log equipment checks.
  • Secure qualified substitute well in advance and provide substitute with rosters and lesson plans.
  • Maintain all personal certifications, attending workshops and re-certification training as needed or required.
  • Set up and take down class equipment. Report equipment problems and return all teaching equipment to proper storage.
  • Observe and discuss individual progress with participants.
  • Attend staff meetings and approved trainings as required.
  • Respond to and report all accidents and incidents.
  • Lead and supervise activities.

Required Skills

  • Ability to individually lead a class, respond to safety and emergency situations, motivate and educate members set up, move and store class equipment is required.
  • Demonstrate good communication skills and display an engaging personality enabling him/her to relate well to participants.
  • Ability to develop effective interpersonal relationships with children, parents and other adults as required for program area.

Required Experience

  • A minimum of one year of rock climbing/belay experience strongly preferred.
  • First aid and CPR certification required within 90 days of employment.

Massage Center of Hudson seeks part-time licensed massage therapist candidates looking for additional income and a great home. We serve our fitness club members, athletes and all individuals wanting some TLC and relaxation.

Knowledge of deep tissue, trigger point, Sports Massage, and Swedish Massage are required. Individuals must be organized, enthusiastic, punctual, love helping people feel better and have a desire to be a part of a winning team.

Must have a current Ohio state license. Two years of previous massage therapy experience preferred.

Private room, linens and supplies provided. This position will be part-time with base salary and commission.

Position also features access to a 103,000 sq ft, fitness facility which features yoga, Pilates classes, spinning studio, racquetball courts, weight room, wide variety of state-of-the-art exercise equipment, 5 swimming pools, sauna, steam room and 3 hot tubs.

The Membership Representative’s primary responsibility is to gain memberships in order to meet sales goals. Additional responsibilities include (but are not limited to) assisting with customer service, helping prospective members and existing club members with concerns regarding the club and handling designated corporate accounts. This is a part-time position with a base pay plus commissions.


• Manage all aspects of a prospective member’s interest to LifeCenter Plus (providing a tour, providing any and all information about the club, providing sales materials and pricing information, etc.)
• Determining prospect’s goals and motivation through a thorough Needs Analysis
• Performing all basic system transactions pertaining to billing and contracts
• Developing and maintaining relationships with current members on a name to name basis, especially any membership accounts in representative’s book of business
• Being knowledgeable of all products and programs and building value in LifeCenter Plus’ services
• Being responsive to member feedback and complaints and working towards timely resolution
• Notifying Director of Business Development of any member complaints or grievances and assisting in appropriate response(s)
• Consistently looking for opportunities to gain new members and elevate service levels
• Developing relations with the community and local small businesses by being involved in club’s execution of participation in community events, as directed and determined by Director of Business Development
• Actively build a network of contacts through prospecting and referrals
• Attending sales and training meetings as directed by Director of Business Development
• Driving retention by working with fitness team to introduce fitness services at point of sale, as needed
• Reaching and surpassing monthly sales projections, call quotas, among other individual and team goals
